Fondant Bow

I absolutely adore the “knitted effect” cakes and I wanted to add my own spin on the effect. So I had the idea that a fondant bow would be something good to try…..well I am so pleased I did. This turned out so much better than I wanted it to. For this one I used MARVELOUS MOULDS which I highly recommend. I used some corn flour across the back of the fondant, so that my fingers didn’t stick. You can also add some to the inside of the mould but be careful there are no lumps or you will affect the design.

To make the longer ribbon, this was a little fiddly. I had to press into the fondant about a half inch from the top of the mould, so that the harsh edge didn’t interrupt the flow. Then I lined it up and continued, until I got the length I wanted. You will need a strong fondant to do this I used THE SUGAR PASTE as it holds its structure really well. I used the PME dowels to create the ridges of the ribbon.
